Take a staycation at wells interiors’ London
Leaving the country can be a tricky business at the moment, so why not make the most of the wonderful English summer weather we’ve been having and embrace the joys of the staycation? Our own capital city offers so many delights – and you can shop, eat, drink and sleep amongst some of the most beautiful wallpapered interiors in the world.
The Wells Interiors guide to a luxurious London getaway
As one of the leading wallpaper specialists in the country, we are lucky enough to have the inside track on some of the capital’s most gorgeous and exclusive spots. From delicious doughnuts to stylish suits, we’d like to share some of our top tips with you…
Champagne breakfast at The Londoner
Start the day as you mean to go on with a decadent champagne breakfast. The Stage at ‘super boutique’ hotel The Londoner is a bar dedicated to champagne and life’s great delights, and the decor is suitably theatrical. One of our most interesting challenges to date as professional wallpaper installers was hanging a wonderful textured Philip Jeffries wallcovering on the corrugated walls.
Shopping at Bonadea
If you have a hankering for exquisite homewares, Bonadea on Pimlico Road is an absolute must. An emporium of established luxury brands, exceptional artisans and creative studios from across the world, it’s a one-stop shop for stunning glassware, crockery and objets d’art. Look out for its winter garden room featuring a hand-painted wallpaper designed by Fromental (and hung by us!) inspired by the decorations of ancient Pompeii.
Suits from Holland & Sherry
Holland & Sherry supplies the most luxurious and highest quality cloths worldwide, and at their London outpost, you can get them made into a perfectly fitted suit. The brand has been going since 1836, and their fabrics are still woven using time-honoured techniques. They chose our wallpaper specialists to install their own wallcoverings at their sophisticated Savile Row showroom.
Coffee and doughnuts at Queens of Mayfair
Mayfair is full of fine dining establishments, but there aren’t so many relaxed all-day eateries. Thank God for Queens of Mayfair, where one can grab a speciality cortado and a treat from their sumptuous selection of doughnuts and pastries, all within cocooning wallpapered interiors designed by co-founder Grace Sheppard. Grace chose a beautiful graphic print and a vibrant Chinoiserie, both designed by Studio Fromental and installed by the Wells team.
Dinner at 1890 at The Savoy
Gordon Ramsay’s new restaurant at the Savoy Hotel opened earlier this year and already feels like an established player on the London restaurant scene. The ambient Art Deco aesthetic, combining hues of taupe and a spectacular gold-leaf Fromental ceiling (installed by us) with crisp white table cloths, echoes the food: a modern French seasonal tasting menu with contemporary touches. This is a very special experience so remember to dress to the nines!
Stay at The Twenty Two
After such a day of decadence, you’ll want somewhere special to lay your head. The Twenty Two on Grosvenor Square bills itself as “for the creative and curious”, and we think that’s a perfect description of its interiors, designed by Natalia Miyar. Our favourite rooms are the dormer bedrooms on the fourth floor, each seamlessly wrapped by the Wells team in papers by Pierre Frey based on 18th-century Indian printed cottons. Or for a grander option, choose The Mews House or the Heritage Suite, both papered in bold and beautiful Iksel wallpapers by the experts at Wells.
And finally… If all of these adventures have whetted your appetite for luxury wallcoverings, why not arrange an appointment at our offices in Eccleston Square for a chat about how we could help with your next renovation project? We pride ourselves on being the most precise and professional wallpaper installers in town!
