At Wells Interiors, we’re no strangers to transforming walls into works of art – but our latest collaboration with the iconic Luke Irwin takes things to a whole new level. Renowned for his luxurious, hand-crafted rugs, Luke has ventured into the world of wallpaper, and we were honoured to be the team behind the installation for his stunning new showroom on Pimlico Road in London’s prestigious Chelsea.
A Vision Realised
Luke’s debut wallpaper collection is nothing short of extraordinary. Drawing on the same rich textures and designs that define his rugs, the wallpapers effortlessly lift patterns off the wall, creating depth and dimension that go beyond the traditional. By working with materials like jute and incorporating intricate, imperfect geometric designs, these wallcoverings provide unique and statement finishes.
For Luke, this collection is deeply personal. “I’ve spent years looking at the floor and felt that now was the time to look at the wall,” he says. His creations blend inspiration from his 1970s childhood, African influences, and even a nod to The Godfather II. Each design invites viewers to linger and discover hidden patterns, offering walls with texture, movement, and unparalleled character.

These wallpapers are perfect for anyone looking to move beyond flat, two-dimensional walls and embrace a more dynamic aesthetic. “With the plain wallpapers, the idea was to simply reflect the striation from the rugs as a design within a single colour. This inevitably leads to a greater variety of colour within a single colour and changes what would be a flat painted wall into one that has subtle movement and tonal variation. It is much more pleasing than a flat coat of paint.”
